Understanding Crystals

Crystals come in many shapes and sizes and are known for their powerful healing abilities if used correctly. But how do you know which crystal to choose for what problem. Obviously a trained crystal therapist will know which to choose for you as they will be trained to know which crystal to choose depending on your ailment. However you can also use crystals at home. Below are a few ideas of what crystals actually do.

Amethyst – Use this under your pillow if you suffer from insomnia. This crystal works well if you are also trying to develop your intuition and will stimulate any form of self-healing.

Bloodstone – As the very name suggests this will help you if you suffer from any sort of blood disorder from menstrual problems to nose bleeds. It is believed to help cleanse the blood.

Coral – Use this if you are suffering from toothache or digestive problems. This is also a good stone to help with positive thinking.

Emerald- Known as the stone of true love and helpful to develop your psychic abilities This stone can help you to generate insight into any relationship.

Garnet – Sexual problems whether overactive or  repressed can be helped by this stone. Will help to promote inner peace and aid relaxation.

Kunzite – A lovely stone for woman to wear or use and has a superb effect for those of you with any gynaecological problems or having problems accepting their femininity.

Opal – This stone was once believed to be unlucky, however I think it has had unfair bad press. This is one of the most sensitive stones. As this is a water stone it will have to be treated with extra care as it can easily chip. This stone particular gains great benefit from  being left to absorb the light of a full moon. If you wear an opal and your energy is low it will turn dull, when your energy is high again it will show a brilliant glow.

Clear Quartz – wearing a clear quartz or carrying a piece of  crystal with you at all times is one of the most powerful stones you can use. Wearing a quartz will help protect you from negative outside energy and more importantly your own negative thoughts and feelings.

Choosing your crystal

Many crystal therapists believe that certain stones will come to us when we are in need of their particular healing properties. So when choosing your stone take you time and try and get a feel for it. You will be drawn to a certain colour or the best way to choose one is to have you hand palm down and hover it over a selection of stones. When you feel your hand warm or tingling over a certain stone that’s the one to choose even if it does not look as pretty as some others this is your inner guide directing you to the correct stone.

I have my crystal now what do I do?

When you first bring your crystal home then you must program it. By this it means instilling your energy and thoughts into the stone. Always wash your crystal as either using a bowl of pure sea water or soaking in a soloution of warm water and sea salt for aprox 30 hours.

having done the above your crystal will now be charged and ready to use or wear. (please note if using an opal do not follow the above advise but leave on a window ledge on a full moon to absorb its energies)
