How the Oils Work

Aromas stimulate the olfactory nerves at the back of the nose, which send messages to the olfactory bulb which is in the third ventricle of the brain (the limbic system). This part of the brain looks after our thirst, hunger and sex drives.

The pituitary gland and the hypothalamus are both situated in the same area with responsibility for the release of hormones into our systems that control body functions and release emotions and memories.  So stimulating these nerves can have a direct effect on the body and the mind.  The pituitary gland is head of the endocrine system and regulates the production of hormones by all glands.

The hypothalamus is part of the neurological system that controls the autonomic nervous system, ie controls all the involuntary muscles such as the heart, lungs etc. It also works with the pituitary gland to regulate female sex hormones and is related to the control of the appetite.

So the inhalation of essential oils has a powerful effect on the hormones in the endocrine system and is particularly useful in the treatment of hormonal conditions.

Absorption

Essential oils that are absorbed into the skin go directly into the blood stream; so this can be achieved in many ways such as in the bath/shower, compress, massage and applied neat onto the skin. Inhalation of oils can also be absorbed through the lungs as they enter into the bloodstream in the surrounding blood vessels.

Essential oils go directly into the bloodstream and boost the levels of vitamins, minerals, proteins and acids that are naturally produced in the body.  They are really clever in that they seek out where the body is deficient in some way help with the chemical balance.  Additionally essential oils that are absorbed through the skin can trigger our immune system by locating molecules in the body and sending a signal to our cells to attack and invade organisms.

What you do need to be aware of is that the absorption rates vary in individuals and the oils. What is Reiki
Reiki is a form of spiritual healing dating back to 20th century Japan. Created by Buddist Sensei Mikao Usui, Reiki is said to heal a person through the energy flowing from the palms of the practitioner. Reiki made its way to the western world thanks to the work of Hawayo Takata, who was born in Hawaii from Japanese parents. Through the use of universal life-energy, Reiki can heal a person, even if the practitioner himself does not know what’s wrong.
During a Reiki session, a practitioner will ask you to lie down on a table after removing your shoes and jewelry. He will then move her hands around your body, without actually touching you. During the process, the practitioner’s hand usually become really hot, a sign that energy is flowing through him. It’s important to note that the energy received does not come from the practitioner himself; he is merely channeling the Universe’s energy. Some people who experience Reiki for the first time have an intense emotional reaction to it. This is considered normal.

As a result, in many palm reading sessions, Greek mythological figures will be invoked as representative of various parts of the palm, with that part of the palm reflecting characteristics associated with that god or goddess.
For example, the middle finger is said to represent Athena, and therefore logic and rationality. The tip of the thumb is said to represent Rhea, the Earth goddess, who defied her husband, and therefore one looks to the thumb for a clue to a person’s willpower. The mound near the thumb is represented by Venus, and it indicates a great deal about love. Other areas are said to be ruled by Vulcan, Mercury, Mars, and Apollo.
Most traditions of palm reading focus only on the shapes and lengths of various features of the hands. The two main features looked at are lines and bumps. These lines are usually given names, such as life line or heart line, which indicate their meaning. Intersections of lines and bumps, relationships between their lengths or widths, and depths of creases are all thought to tell the palm reader different things about the person or their future. In some traditions other features, such as the fingernails, the texture of the skin, the flexibility of various joints, and the patterns marked on the skin, are all looked at as well.
The most basic way to appraise a hand in a palm reading session is to determine which of the elements it is associated with. Fire hands generally are rectangular, have short fingers, and have red or pink skin. Water hands have an ovoid palm, long, and long round fingers. Earth hands are broad and square, with thick and rough skin. Air hands are rectangular, have long fingers, and generally have drier skin. The temperament of the person is thought to correlate roughly with the element of their hand, with fiery people having short tempers, high creativity, etc.
There are three major lines looked at in a palm reading session: the life line, the heart line, and the head line. The life line runs from the crease between the thumb and pointer finger down in an arc towards the wrist; it generally gives information on the person’s health, as well as major events that will take place in their life.
