Overview of Part 1 and 3 Tarot Course

Part 1

Lesson 1 begins with the history of tarot, the relationship between tarot and ordinary playing cards, why people use the tarot and some practical advice. This lesson then explains how to energise your cards, shuffling and dealing the cards, an explanation of the major/minor arcana and court cards, how numbers relate to the cards, spreads, choosing your cards and what choosing the colour of the cloth to wrap your cards in.

Section A of this lesson begins with starting your readings, an exercise on noting your feelings on the meanings of the Major Arcana cards and the Journey of the tarot (Fools Journey) which represents the journey from the first steps of the Fool to the end of the World.
This lesson continues by giving some rules on reading cards for others and gives you the upright and reverse meanings of the Major Arcana deck to compare with your feelings on the individual cards as completed in Section A of this Lesson.

Lesson 2 continues with readings and spreads, tips on basic meditation before reading the cards and whether you can read your own cards. This lesson shows you some simple readings and their meanings; gives an example of a question reading and introduces the Suit of Wands/Batons.

Lesson 3 continues with the explanation of the significator in tarot, numerology, introduces the horoscope spread which gives more detail to a reading and the wand cards which can now be incorporated in amongst the Major Arcana cards..
Section B of this lesson introduces the suit of Cups, including the upright and reverse meanings.

Part 2

Lesson 4 explains why individual suits have been introduced on a step by step basis so that students can become familiar with their meanings before moving on to the next suit of Tarot cards.  This lesson then introduces the Celtic Cross Spread which is the most popular Tarot Spread. This is an excellent layout for the beginner as it has specific cards for specific purposes, and is a great opening spread for any Tarot reader. Lesson 4 continues with the Coins/Discs or Pentacles suit and the Suit of Swords, including their upright and reverse meanings.

Lesson 5 begins with the groupings and combinations of cards and introduces the Cross Spread and how it can be interpreted.

Lesson 6 gives tips on avoiding bad vibes, what and where are your Chakras and how to open them, a list of frequently asked questions and how to close down after a reading.  This lesson then continues with practical advice on taking up a career as a reader, other necessary skills, business equipment and what do with failed readings.  It then gives you information on how long a reading should last, tips on identifying charges for your readings, and responsibilities of a Professional Tarot reader.  Finally Section C introduces the Calendar Spread and its interpretation.

Part 3

Lesson 7 begins with lessons in love, shuffling methods, the four card love spread, the Relationship spread, the your and your partner spread, the single person spread, the mystic seven card spread,  and how they can be interpreted.

Lesson 8 gives helpful advice on being more proficient as a reader getting more enjoyment and development in your spiritual life, finished readings and how to deal with regular clients.  Finally this lesson advises on card layouts/spreads, devising your own spread and timing of the cards.

After each group of lessons, a list of related questions and answers has been provided to allow the students to review their learning.

Way Forward

When students have successfully passed the Professional Tarot Reading examination, they are issued with a Diploma that is recognised by the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM). To apply for recognition they should contact IPHM at www.iphm.co.uk .
