Colour Therapy Case Study – Client is depressed and withdrawn

She is an introverted person .She was optimistic and ambitious and able to cope with social surrounding and make friends. Two years ago after losing her job and failing to find another, she started to withdraw gradually. The isolation became the only solution to escape the unwanted events of the life. She avoided any social contact to the extent that she deactivated all her accounts in the social media apps. She stopped to answer her friends on the phone. Later, she realized that her behavior is a great mistake and decided to take control of her life again. But she always feels weak mentally and physically. The task looks overwhelming. She approached me for help.
First Session:
I- Colour Test: Offering a set of coloured cards, I asked her to choose two cards
The first choice: Blue
Second Choice: Black
Indication: The Blue shows that she is very idealist, her head in cloud and is looking always for long and lasting peace. These traits make it very difficult for her to cope with hardships of the live and accept the challenges. The black shows that she lacks love and support and believes that the world is not a safe and fair place.
II- Art Therapy
Giving her an empty canvas, brush and a set of colours, I asked her to paint the canvas with the colours that express her. A soft music was played as a background.
Not surprisingly, the colours were all cool and pale ones without any bright or warm colour. I discussed with her what her choices meant. It was very clear that she is avoiding the life.
