What is Colour Therapy?

Colour therapy works on the theory that colour can seriously affect your state of mind. The belief is that your state of mind has an impact on your physical health as it is thought the mind and body are linked. By using different colours in your life in different ways you can change the thought processes in your mind and in turn bring about a change in your physical health.

What are the Properties of Blue?

Blue is thought to be a cool, soothing colour with the ability to diffuse hot situations. In addition to that blue is thought be the colour of truth, calmness, serenity and internal harmony. For this reason it could be beneficial for bring peace and harmony into a person’s life. On the other hand blue is also a colour that is associated with depression and when you look at the aura of someone suffering from depression it usually has a lot of blue in it. Uses and Benefits of Blue

There are various different ways that you can use blue and a number of conditions that could get a benefit from the addition of blue into your life. For example blue is a calming colour and so it can be a great one to use if you are feeling stressed or worn out with everyday life. Also if you have difficult relationships in your life either with a partner of people you work with then blue can be a good colour to use. However it is important not to introduce too much as that can leave you feeling depressed.

Due to the cooling nature of blue you could find that it is useful for minor burns. The cooling property can also help with conditions like hypertension and general stress. If you have flu you may also find that using a blue pillow case can help to cool you down and reduce your fever. If you have stress at work then wearing a blue top could help to keep you calm throughout the day. You could also find that blue is a great colour to use if you are suffering from sore throats or respiratory problems.

You can introduce blue into your life in a number of different ways including clothing, nail varnish, eating blue berries or adding things like blue flowers to your room. You can blue cushions and soft furnishings into your room and even burn a blue candle to add the colour into your life. Don’t forget that it is important to use a small amount as an accent to sooth you as using too much blue can cause you to feel depressed.

As a word of warning it is important to say that if you have a concern about your health you should visit a doctor to get a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Once you are aware of your condition you can add blue into your life as a complement to the treatment your doctor has recommended.
