A Guide To Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has been considered down through the century as a remedy that soothes the body and mind. The remedies are said to relieve symptoms coming from a variety of diseases. In addition, the remedies are claimed to relieve stress, anxiety, nervous tension, and related symptoms.  Many people have used aromatherapy, including the French natives, Egyptians, Germans, Brazilians, Europeans, Indians, Canadians, Americans, people in the Mediterranean lands, and so on. The oils include the scented and essential
oils. Online you can find a variety of the oils, including Basil, Cedarwood, celery seed, carrot seed, African Bluegrass oils, bergamot, clove bud and leaf oils, and so on. The oils each have its purpose for healing the body and mind.

COLOUR THERAPY - Home Study Diploma Course

Colour therapy is a non-invasive therapy that makes use of the healing energy contained within visible rays of colour.  It is a complementary therapy, which works in a subtle way with many other types of treatment, although it can be used on its own whist still giving excellent results.

Colour can be used to balance energy, aid creativity and learning, release blocks and help alleviate physical, emotional and mental conditions. Colour therapists encourage people to understand why they need certain colours and show them how to put these colours to beneficial use in order to promote optimum health. Colour therapy is used throughout the world as a complementary treatment for a wide range of illnesses: asthma, arthritis, eating disorders, skin diseases, digestive ailments, blood and circulation problems, fevers, rheumatism, shock, relief of pain and as part of the treatment for serious illnesses such as paralysis, multiple sclerosis, M.E, cancers and Aids. It is also used to great effect in the treatment of nervous and mental disorders and depression.

Wherever it has been possible Luna Online Home Studies has incorporated pictures, diagrams and exercises to help you understand the subject and practice of Colour T,

Jasmine essential oils - aromatherapy

JASMINE ABSOLUTE (JASMIN OFFICINALE, JASMINUM GRANDIFLORUM OR JASMINUM SAMBAC).

This evergreen shrub or climbing vine has delicate leaves and star shaped white flowers, which are very fragrant in nature. The Rose is known as the ‘Queen of oils’ but the Jasmine is considered to be the ‘King of Oils’. It is very costly to make and is therefore, like rose, one of the more expensive essential oils. The flowers are best plucked at night, as the perfume is at its strongest then and the method of Enfleurage is used in extracting the essential oil so the labour costs are high. As with Rose essential oil, very small amounts of Jasmine essential oil are needed for treatment.

Most Jasmine absolute essential oil originates from the Grasse region in France, although Jasmine is found in China, Northern India, the Mediterranean and Asia. The dried flowers are used to make Jasmine tea.
Jasmine is known as a warming and relaxing oil emotionally. It is useful where people who have depression also feel lethargic an unmotivated or have feelings of low self esteem.

Like Rose essential oil, Jasmine is a beneficial uterine tonic, good for painful periods and cramps, although Marjoram is just as effective and less expensive. Jasmine can be used to good effect during childbirth, used in a carrier oil during the early stages of labour on the abdomen and lower back to act as pain relief and to make contractions stronger. As Jasmine is also an anti-depressant this too can help you to avoid post-natal depression.

Sexual dysfunction is often a result of stress and anxiety; Jasmine can be of use in this area too. Jasmine has long been known as an aphrodisiac. Jasmine is also a success in skincare products and is particularly useful for dry and sensitive skin. Once again only a little of the essential oil is necessary, added to a base cream as described in Part Two of the course.

First Aid - resuscitation

Resuscitation

Whenever you come across an emergency medical situation, the procedures and the priorities are always the same.  Before you take any action make an initial assessment of the situation to help you to establish what the priorities are, this could be whether you and the person are in any immediate danger. If so then you would decide what the best course of action would be – remember you cannot always move a person, so telephoning the emergency services might be your next step.If a person is quiet, it often means that they are in need of urgent attention.  So the first action would be to check the individual(s):(A)          Airway – is it clear of any obstacles,?(B)          Breathing – are they breathing normally?(C)          Circulation – check their pulse? If the person appears unconscious, ask them loudly `can you hear me - can you open your eyes?’   If the person responds, and there is no immediate danger it would be advisable to leave them in the same position and immediately summon help.  You could continue to treat any conditions found, but monitor for any vital signs (A, B and C) until the emergency services arrive. If the airway is obstructed, clear any obstacles that you can as it could cause the individual to die if left untreated.  Obstacles could include the tongue falling into the back of the throat; so you would carefully move it out of the way.

ACTION TO TAKE

The following gives actions that you should take to deal with an emergency situation:1.    If you are alone with the person, SHOUT for help rather leaving them on their own.2.     If possible, keep the person in the position found and open the airway. If that is not possible and the situation is dangerous very gently turn the person onto their back and open their mouth.3.    Open the airway by placing one hand on the person’s forehead and gently tilting the head backwards.  Open the mouth using 2 fingers only - this will move the person’s tongue away from the back of the mouth.4.    Look, listen and feel for no more than 10 seconds to establish whether the person begins to breathe normally.5.    Check if the chest is rising and falling as the person breathes - listen for breathing. Feel for breath against your cheek.6.    If the person is breathing normally, then place them in the recovery position that is covered in Lesson 3.

Gem Essence for Health

Taking Gem Essences
Add between two to five drops of gem essence to a glass of spring water. Sip this at intervals throughout the day. You can either determine intuitively or dowse with a pendulum as to how much you should be taking.

When dowsing with a pendulum you could ask:

1.    Which essence/s do you need? You could place your gem essence bottles in a group and ask whether there is a particular essence in the group that is needed. It is possible you find you may need more than one essence.

2.    How many doses do you require?
3.    How many days or weeks should you take the essence?
Remember to ask questions that give a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ answer. For instance: “Should I take this essence once a day”, going through different numbers until the pendulum reacts.
When taking gem essences it should be remembered that the benefits can be greatly reduced if you are consuming substances that alter the body’s metabolism and pollutes the aura. Coffee, tea and alcohol (if taken in excess) or cigarettes will interfere with gem essence vibrations.
It is possible to become over-charged with essence so always monitor your reactions. If you start feeling dizzy, spaced out, or have any other symptoms, stop taking the essence. Drink some pure spring water to neutralise these effects.
You could also take the essences by applying a few drops directly to the temples, pulse points or acupuncture points using your fingers. It is recommended that you allow the drops to warm in your fingers a little prior to application. The drops that you apply may be direct from the bottle or you may wish to dilute the essence (7 drops to 25ml of purified water). Other methods of applying the essences include adding a few drops in an oil burner, massaging into the skin, or placing the drops into a bath.
When taking gem water or gem essences, it would be greatly beneficial if you give yourself or your patient an affirmation to go with it. Repeat the affirmation throughout the day as well as when taking the essence. An affirmation also sets up a repetitious pattern of positive thought waves that will reinforce the action of the gem essence.

How do mediums contact the dead?

A medium develops a fine state of sensitivity to etheric vibrations, and who places his or her gifts at the service of humanity, works to a very definite plan. A guardian is placed in charge of his, or her, psychic development, and this guardian (or guide) interpenetrates the aura of the medium with his own vibratory force until the aura becomes double sensitive and quickly responsive to all super-sensual vibrations. He then transmits through the aura information concerning the discarnate soul who desire to contact their friends and relatives who are still tied to a physical body.

In the head of every person are two glands, know as the pituitary gland and the pineal gland. In some people these glands are active and in some they are dormant; in some people they are fitfully active, but upon them depend the faculties of clear-seeing and clear-hearing. The pineal gland gives the power of registering the vibrations of the supernal world in the form of vision and the pituitary gland of registering the vibrations in the form of sound, and thus when the discarnate guardian projects his information into the aura of the medium, one of these two centres will respond and the medium will either see a vision or hear a voice.

Psychic communion is not the easy matter many people  imagine it to be; the slightest impression registered by the human brain has possibly been conveyed by an intricate process from the supernatural world, but many marvellous things have been brought about by it. The hopeless have been given encouragement; the would-be suicide has retained his life; the sorrowful have been made glad, and in the future, I think man’s salvation from his own greedy madness will be by the conscious use of this same power, through which he will be guided wisely to wield the affairs of nations with the help of great discarnate statesmen.

He will then be led to guard against war, epidemic and calamity, for the ramifications of mediumship extend from mere fortune-telling to the powers of prophecy; from curing a cut finger to reading in the book of nature the cure and prevention of diseases such as cancer, bubonic plague, tuberculosis and sleeping-sickness.

At this time there are hundred of groups and organisations scattered over the world, most of which will aid anyone who so desires, to develop the psychic powers lying latent in their personality. There is nothing very mysterious about this process. The would-be medium is expected to sit with with a group of people among whom there will be one, at least, who is a developed medium. They sit in chairs placed in a circular fashion round the room, so that if their hands are joined each person is in contact with the other and their auras will correspondingly interpenetrate.

The medium in charge, as we know, has an aura already sensitized by the guardian, and this same guide now transmits his power into the aura of the medium and it is then transmitted through the contact of his hands to the sitters on either side, whose auras become charged with as much of this power as they are able to receive; they are also in contact with the other sitters and some of the power is transmitted through their hands until it has penetrated the whole of the circle, and for the time being should have the effect of sensitizing, in a greater or lesser degree, the auras of the sitters concerned. If any of these sitters have glands which are at all active, they should be able to register some of the sights or sounds of the supernatural world.

In part 19 we will learn how people have developed mediumship powers through illness.
