How do mediums contact the dead?

A medium develops a fine state of sensitivity to etheric vibrations, and who places his or her gifts at the service of humanity, works to a very definite plan. A guardian is placed in charge of his, or her, psychic development, and this guardian (or guide) interpenetrates the aura of the medium with his own vibratory force until the aura becomes double sensitive and quickly responsive to all super-sensual vibrations. He then transmits through the aura information concerning the discarnate soul who desire to contact their friends and relatives who are still tied to a physical body.

In the head of every person are two glands, know as the pituitary gland and the pineal gland. In some people these glands are active and in some they are dormant; in some people they are fitfully active, but upon them depend the faculties of clear-seeing and clear-hearing. The pineal gland gives the power of registering the vibrations of the supernal world in the form of vision and the pituitary gland of registering the vibrations in the form of sound, and thus when the discarnate guardian projects his information into the aura of the medium, one of these two centres will respond and the medium will either see a vision or hear a voice.

Psychic communion is not the easy matter many people  imagine it to be; the slightest impression registered by the human brain has possibly been conveyed by an intricate process from the supernatural world, but many marvellous things have been brought about by it. The hopeless have been given encouragement; the would-be suicide has retained his life; the sorrowful have been made glad, and in the future, I think man’s salvation from his own greedy madness will be by the conscious use of this same power, through which he will be guided wisely to wield the affairs of nations with the help of great discarnate statesmen.

He will then be led to guard against war, epidemic and calamity, for the ramifications of mediumship extend from mere fortune-telling to the powers of prophecy; from curing a cut finger to reading in the book of nature the cure and prevention of diseases such as cancer, bubonic plague, tuberculosis and sleeping-sickness.

At this time there are hundred of groups and organisations scattered over the world, most of which will aid anyone who so desires, to develop the psychic powers lying latent in their personality. There is nothing very mysterious about this process. The would-be medium is expected to sit with with a group of people among whom there will be one, at least, who is a developed medium. They sit in chairs placed in a circular fashion round the room, so that if their hands are joined each person is in contact with the other and their auras will correspondingly interpenetrate.

The medium in charge, as we know, has an aura already sensitized by the guardian, and this same guide now transmits his power into the aura of the medium and it is then transmitted through the contact of his hands to the sitters on either side, whose auras become charged with as much of this power as they are able to receive; they are also in contact with the other sitters and some of the power is transmitted through their hands until it has penetrated the whole of the circle, and for the time being should have the effect of sensitizing, in a greater or lesser degree, the auras of the sitters concerned. If any of these sitters have glands which are at all active, they should be able to register some of the sights or sounds of the supernatural world.

In part 19 we will learn how people have developed mediumship powers through illness.

The meaning of colour

THE COLOURS AND THEIR MEANINGS

Red
Red has more personal associations than any other colour. Recognised as a stimulant, red is inherently exciting and the amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived.
A red person is full of energy, strong and physically active and can tend to be thin or muscular as the result of an active metabolism. Red people are generally out-going, gregarious and love life.
How the colour red affects us mentally and physically:
•    Increases enthusiasm
•    Stimulates energy
•    Encourages action and confidence
•    Gives a sense of protection from fears and anxiety

On the negative side, red people may have a tendency to be headstrong, impatient, bad tempered and become easily heated.  Red people need to watch their blood pressure and also watch out for problems such as boils, rashes and other skin diseases.
Balancing colour:  Blue for softness and calmness.
Orange
Orange, a close relative of red, sparks more controversy than any other hue. There is usually a strong positive or negative association to orange and pure orange generally elicits a stronger “love it” or “hate it” response than other colours. Fun and flamboyant, orange radiates warmth and energy.  Orange people are just as vital as red people but are more practically oriented. They are lively and outgoing, cheerful and joyous. Orange people also tend to be practical and make good designers, engineers and architects.
How the colour orange affects us mentally and physically:
•    Stimulates activity
•    Stimulates appetite
•    Encourages socialisation

Orange people, however, can suffer from stress and a battered immune system and they need to watch their energy levels.
Balancing colour:  Indigo for inner calm and intuition.
Yellow
Yellow is the colour of the sun and shines with optimism, enlightenment and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future and instills optimism and energy as well as sparking creative thoughts.  Yellow people are good communicators and capable of logical, clear thinking.
How the colour yellow effects us mentally and physically:
•    Mentally stimulating
•    Stimulates the nervous system
•    Activates memory
•    Encourages communication

Yellow people tend to place more importance on the mind than on the body, the negative aspect of this being that they may neglect to take proper exercise and often have a poor diet. This could result in digestive problems, in particular relating to the liver and spleen.
Balancing colour: Violet is a good balancing colour as this colour brings wisdom.
Green
Green is considered to be the colour of peace and harmony. The natural greens, from forest to lime, are seen as tranquil and refreshing, with a natural balance of cool and warm (blue and yellow) undertones.  Green people are neither extrovert or introvert and strive to find balance and harmony in their life.  They tend to be close to nature and love the countryside, animals and children. A green person would also identify strongly with the healing arts.
How green effects us physically and mentally:
•    Soothing
•    Relaxing mentally as well as physically
•    Helps alleviate depression, nervousness and anxiety
•    Offiers a sense of renewal, self-control and harmony

Green people tend not to like taking action and therefore may deliberate on anything they do, finding it hard to make decisions. They may also be possessive, either in relationships or with monetary wealth.

Balancing colour:  Rose Pink, the colour of universal love.

Blue
Blue is the overwhelming “favourite colour”. Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable and committed.  The colour of sky and of the ocean, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. It invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming. Blue people tend to be gentle and peaceful by nature and are passive and introverted, liking to be surrounded by a loving, harmonious atmosphere.  This caring aspect is why blue is also the colour of the medical profession. Blue is the least “gender specific” colour, having equal appeal to both men and women.
Not all blues are warm and sedate, however. Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic, engaging colours that express exhilaration. Some shades or the overuse of blue may come across as cold or uncaring.
How the colour blue effects us physically and mentally:
•    Calming and sedate
•    Cooling
•    Aids intuition

Tending to be introverted, blue people need to watch that they do not become too withdrawn and isolated. They can suffer from depression and may find it difficult to communicate their needs and feelings to others.  This may manifest in the form of throat related problems and may also suffer from low blood pressure.

Balancing colours:  Yellow and orange would be good choices as yellow aids communication while orange brings joy and warmth in relationships.

Deep Blue/Indigo
Indigo or deep blue people are similar in many ways to blue people being strong intellectually, but are also in touch with their intuition and higher self. They generally love music and the arts and with their knowledge comes power. They can also be very idealistic and many great reformers work on the Indigo ray.  Indigo and deep blue people are very loyal and truthful. However, they must make sure they do not abuse their power, working for the good of others and not themselves.
Balancing colour:  Orange brings practicality and earthing qualities.
Violet/Purple
Purple embodies the balance of red stimulation and blue calm.  This dichotomy can cause unrest or uneasiness unless the undertone is clearly defined, at which point the purple takes on the characteristics of its undertone. A sense of mystic and royal qualities, purple people are creative or eccentric types and are often musicians, artists or writers.
Violet is the most intuitive of colours and people choosing this colour are likely to be seeking spiritual development. Violet people are often called to serve and many psychics and healers operate under the violet ray. Because they are so sensitive, violet people can suffer from mental and nervouse disorders.
How the colour purple or violet effects us mentally and physically:
•    Uplifting
•    Calming to mind and nerves
•    Offers a sense of spirituality
•    Encourages creativity

Balancing colour: Yellow for wisdom and to boost personal power.

COLOUR DISLIKES AND COLOUR TESTS
Our short-term attractions relate to a particular stage we are going through at the time and here it is particularly useful to consider the colours we do not like and choose to reject.  If you do not like:
•    Red     –     shows frustration, anger or defeat
•    Orange     –     suffering from exhaustion, mental or physical fatigue
•    Yellow     –     suffering disappointments, feeling powerless
•    Green     –     mental disturbance, loneliness, rejection
•    Blue     –    anxiety or fear, loss of wealth or status, sense of             failure
•    Purple     –    pretentious, conceited, vain, can avoid close             relationships
•    Brown    –    desire to stand out as an individual or to stand on
your own feet
•    Black    –    desire to be in control and not relinquish personal             power

Each colour has both positive and negative aspects. If a person displays negative traits of a colour, this colour energy is blocked and its chakra centre needs to be cleared. To balance energy in a chakra, first use the colour rejected and then its complimentary colour to draw in the opposite, positive traits. You will be taught different ways of clearing these blockages in further lessons in this course. In the meantime, it is important that you are able to diagnose a problem and know which colour energies you or an individual needs.
As an example, a woman who went to a colour therapist for treatment found it very difficult to speak her true feelings for fear of rejection.  She had developed a lump on her thyroid and obviously had a blockage in the throat or blue area. This needed to be cleared and she was then encouraged to communicate and build up her self-esteem. Yellow aids communication and orange helps draw warm loving relationships to oneself.
The following list shows some of the negative qualitites of each colour:

Blockages and Negative Qualities of Colours

Red: Inability to accept life’s responsibilities. Ruthless, pushy, quick-tempered, stubborn.
Orange: Fearful, timid, shy, lack of interest in life. Problems with sexuality and relationships.
Yellow: Jealousy, envy, fear, emotions and living by patterns learned in childhood. Feelings of lack of power, obsessional behaviour, disoriented, muddle-headed.
Green: Insecurity, needing to be loved and protected. Feeling that life is unfair, unjust. Victim mentality.
Turquoise: Confusion, turmoil, inability to move through your own boundaries and limitations. Destructive thought forms.
Blue: Difficult to express oneself, motivational problems. Head in the clouds, daydreaming and not in touch with the real world.
Violet: Fears and phobias, relying too heavily on the intellect and not on your intuition. Doubting and apologising for oneself.
Magenta: Denying own needs, martyrdom and self-sacrifice, inferiority complex, trying to control others.
From the previous section on ‘The Colours and their Meanings’, choose those colours that you think would balance these negative traits.

Effects of Indian Head Massage

Effects of massage on the skin

Massage enhances the skin condition by improving the function of the sebaceous and sweat glands, which keep the skin lubricated, clean, and cool.  Massage helps you have healthy skin.  Massage is exercise for your skin. It works to skin improve blood circulation and relieve stress.  With age blood circulation diminishes. When blood circulation is improved with massage, sufficient oxygen and nutrients are transported to create a healthy epidermis and dermis. When it is remembered that the skin is an organ of respiration as well as perspiration, its increased activity must be regarded as one of the most valuable effects of massage.  It is also noticeable that massage of the skin increases its power to automatically react and so gives it increased ability to defend itself against changes in temperature, weather changes, etc.

Effects of massage on the skeleton.

Massage is capable of influencing such hard structures as the bones, ligaments, and cartilages.  A bone has essentially the same blood supply as its overlying muscles. It is for this reason that the same exercise, which causes increase in the size of a muscle, at the same time, encourages growth in the bone to which the muscle is attached. The bones and joints of people who are addicted to exercise are decidedly larger than those of people who do not use their muscles in excessive exercise. This is especially noticeable in comparing the large, strong hand and knotty knuckles of the man who performs hard labour everyday with the frail and straight, slender fingers of the man who works in an office.  It is known that the red matter of the bones is the blood forming tissue of the body. This gives a new importance to massage, since the acceleration of the circulation of blood through the muscles must improve the nutrition of the bones as well as of the muscles, consequently the blood-making processes are influenced both as regards the quantity of the blood produced and its quality.

Effects of massage on muscles

The blood supply to the muscle is increased during massage bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients and removing waste products such as lactic acid, so massage can help alleviate muscle fatigue.  The muscle is warmed because of the increased blood flow and, because warm muscles contract more efficiently that when cold, the likelihood of injury is reduced.  Massage helps to relieve pain, stiffness and fatigue in muscles as the waste products are removed and normal functioning is quickly restored.  The increased oxygen and nutrients aid tissue repair and recovery of the muscle.
Massage can help the breakdown of fibrositic nodules, also called knots, which develop in a muscle because of tension, injury or poor posture.  They are most commonly found in the shoulder area.  Massage helps to increase the tone of the muscles and delays any wasting away of muscles through lack of use.

Effects of massage on the hair

When massage is repeated on a regular basis, it will help to actually strengthen the roots of the hair, which will help hair growth.  Moisturized hair is less likely to split and break, which is a wonderful benefit.  Massage adds natural lustre and shine to the hair.  Regular massage can help protect hair from environmental toxins and other weather conditions by helping to strengthen the follicles.  In some cases, massage can slow hair loss conditions.  It can be combined with deep breathing for even deeper results.  In some cases, regular massage with appropriate essential oils can help to slow the onset of white or grey strands.

children and auras

Mystery of the Human Aura Part 5

The newly born infant may aptly be called an  individualized foetus, for with the first breath the infant draws it becomes something more than a collection of chemical accretions. It becomes an individualized personality, with all the potentialities of the man or woman it will later become. As it hold in itself the potentialities of seeing, hearing, tasting, touching and smelling, so also does it hold in itself the potentialities of the electrical field called the aura, upon the development of which much of its growth and health will depend. It is significant that not until the first breath is drawn does the foetus develop the first sign of auric radiation. Whether the actual soul is connected with the foetus at the time of birth, or at the time of conception, is a detail which yet remains to be proved. We only know that with the first breath there appears round the infant the first hint of the aura, leading us to the conclusion that the aura is composed of matter, or radiation, drawn from the ether’s in the atmosphere, which, when absorbed into the system, is again radiated forth in the form known as the aura.

This infantile aura has very much the same appearance as the infinity of atmosphere perceived by the human eye when looking into the immensity of the clear sky, and we believe that it is identically the same. As a magnet attracts corresponding substances within its field of vibration, so does the human spirit draw itself some substance from the universal ether. This same substance increases in magnetic velocity and in course of time attracts other radiations which will form the adult aura.  The atmosphere is in reality colourless, yet takes on a tinge of blue be reason of its immensity. The aura of an infant is colourless at the time of its birth, but gradually, through the months of its growth, it takes on a faint silvery-blue sheen which grows more marked towards the end of the first year, when intelligence begins to manifest in definite form.

We call this aura the etheric sheath or the astral envelope, because it appears that all later developments take place within this subtle, indefinable area. This particular sheath is as indefinable as air and is rarely perceived by clairvoyants, though they may easily perceive other auric characteristics. It is the sheath known in mystical nomenclature as the garment of the soul, and such in truth it is, because it literally clothes the soul, which is expressing itself through the body of flesh in a sheath-like veil which, literally, is woven of the substance of space. Space itself may be but a garment of God, but to us it signifies the ineffable, glorious wonder of supernal Spirit, the medium by which we may most easily visualize that which cannot be visualized.

By some sects this auric garment is called the causal body, in that it appears to be the cause of all that follows int he life of the incarnate person, and, in the case of the person who develops a high degree of spirituality, this sheath glows with a supernal, unearthly radiance in which the ordinary auric vibration’s glow with the Sweet-pea delicacy of colourings. From clairvoyant observation, such an aura can be best described as a lucent bubble filled with coloured smokes, in the centre of which stands the physical body, from which these same colours stream in ever varying streams of light and shade.  It would appear the causal sheath is built by the action of breathing, therefore it must be drawn from the sun impregnated air, or the God-filled atmosphere we know as space. It is significant to note the improvement in the physique of children who, as babies, have spent long hours in the out-of-doors, in comparison with the practice, of not many years ago, of confining infants to the house on all but the finest of days, with corresponding stunting of their growth. (This was a practice in the 1930,s – 50;s)

Who can say what race of super-men and women may not be produced in the future by our increased knowledge, not only of dietetics, but also of the needs of these other bodies, which, from a purely spiritual point of view, are even more important than the physical ones? We can observe, also the effects that correct breathing , as conducted in the physical culture classes, has had upon the physique of ordinary young men and women. It appears to the author that the results are out of all proportion to the simplicity of the practice, unless we take into consideration the fact that the air is charged with the divine life force of God.

hopi ear candling treatment - why and how?

Issues that benefit from the use of Hopi Ear Candles
Hopi ear candles are widely recognise as the most effective method of removing excess wax from the ear and rebalancing internal pressure. By doing so, a large number of conditions associated with the Ear, Nose and Throat can be treated.
Nasal and throat allergies
Technically known as allergic rhinitis, this condition is the inflammation of the membrane that lines the nose and throat. The inflammation occurs following an allergic reaction, after inhaling specific allergens such as dust or pollen. When allergic rhinitis occurs during the spring or summer it is commonly known as hay fever. Symptoms include sneezing, runny or blocked nose, irritated eyes and nose. The use of Hopi ear candles on a monthly basis may help to reduce the incidence of these allergic reactions and more frequent use of the candles, 1-2 times a week, during more intense attacks may help to reduce their severity.

•    Relief of a build up in pressure (often after flying or diving)
Many people experience the feeling of a change in pressure in their ears when flying. This happens when the eardrums bulge towards the area of lower pressure. During normal function, the pressure inside and outside the eardrum should remain equal, the Eustachian tubes help to regulate this pressure. However, when flying, the eardrum can be pushed inwards as the pressure builds near to the ground. For most people this change in pressure is easily and naturally corrected, often through the action of chewing, swallowing or yawning, but when these actions fail to right the pressure imbalances the use of Hopi ear candles may be required.

The warmth of the candles appears to help the Eustachian Tube to function correctly, this in addition to the slight suction that is applied with the candle, can help the eardrum to correct itself. Ear candling can be very beneficial for correcting ear pressure for people who have recently flown, treatment in the days after the pressure imbalance is recommended.

•    Sinusitus

The sinuses are the air filled cavities around the eyes and nose. Sinusitis is described as the swelling and inflammation of the lining of the sinuses. The condition is brought about when swelling causes the openings in the sinuses to become blocked and prevents mucus from draining effectively through the nose. As the mucus builds up, this leads to an increase in pressure and often to pain. Sinusitis is a relatively common issue and feels like a standard head cold, often with headaches, though cases can be both short term and long term. Hopi ear candles can be used on a daily basis in the first few days of sinusitis, and if symptoms persist can be used on a weekly / monthly basis in the long term.

•    Glue ear / blocked ear
The term ‘glue ear’ refers to the repeated collection of fluid in the middle ear, very common in young children. In this condition the middle ear can become filled with think, sticky, glue-like fluid and can lead to a degree of loss of hearing. When the Eustachian tube becomes blocked, often due to infection, the middle ear can fill with fluid, leading to the development of symptoms such as partial deafness and ear infection. The development of glue ear usually occurs over several months and can often go unnoticed initially. However, once diagnosed, Hopi ear candles can help to alleviate the symptoms and speed up recovery.

•    Colds
The common cold is one of the most widespread conditions throughout the modern world, with around 50% of the population of Europe and North America estimated to be affected each year. With symptoms consisting of a runny nose, sneezing, sore throat and coughing, a cold can be a great inconvenience to everyday life and often results in lost work days. Hopi ear candling, done once or twice a day, can help to clear the congestion and blockages that arise from colds and therefore to ease the symptoms.

•    Headaches & Migraines
For most people the occasional headache is nothing to worry about, but for those people that suffer from regular headaches or migraines it can be very debilitating. Hopi ear candling can help to relax the client and also to clear the sinuses and airways, helping to relieve the discomfort of headaches and migraines.

•    Tinnitus
Tinnitus is the term used to describe the condition of sounds and ringing being heard in either one or both ears. These sounds are actually formed within the ear itself and are frequently described as ringing, buzzing or whistling. Whilst the causes behind tinnitus are still unclear, any sufferers point to ear candling as being beneficial in terms of promoting relaxation.

Are psychics be good for your health?

Can psychics be good for your health?
A phenomenon known as remote viewing, which claims to use psychic powers to ’see’ what is invisible to the naked eye, may have an intriguing role to play in healthcare

Remote chance: Lucy Pinney asks remote viewer Daz Smith to help visualise the final months of her late ex-husband’s life.
Three months ago, Twitter hosted its first scientific experiment and invited users to help demonstrate the existence of psychic powers. Professor Richard Wiseman, of the University of Hertfordshire, recruited 7,000 volunteers via the social messaging service to investigate “remote viewing” (RV). A remote viewer is a gifted individual who claims to be able to “see” events in the past, present and future, and identifying distant locations.
The psychology professor, famed for his mass-participation experiments, which explore the curious science of everyday life, travelled to a mystery site in the UK, whereupon he sent a Tweet. Participants were asked to pinpoint his location by selecting it from a line-up of five photographs. As only 15 per cent of people correctly predicted Prof Wiseman’s location – despite a 20 per cent probability – he pronounced RV to be a hoax.
Related Articles
Historically, however, governments have not been not so quick to condemn. During the Cold War, the American military spent $20 million (£12.2 million) on an RV project, conducting “psychic spying” missions against the Soviet Union for two decades. In 2001, the Ministry of Defence also investigated the potential of remote viewing, but the outcome is unknown.
Recently, Hollywood has got in on the act. In The Men Who Stare at Goats, to be released in 2010, George Clooney plays a soldier who uses his paranormal powers to track down the Iraqi enemy.
So far, so spooky – and frankly unbelievable. Or is it? The NHS is involved in an ongoing trial to establish whether RV has social and medical applications.
Andrew Usher, dean of the British Institute of Homeopathy, and a (non-clinical) partner in an NHS practice in Scotland, is working with a GP to determine if RV can save lives. Usher’s Med RV project uses a team of remote viewers around the world who try to detect illnesses that have been missed by conventional scientific and medical procedures.
The scheme has been running for just over a year. Usher, the complementary medicine consultant at Dunbeath Surgery in Caithness, says it is too early for conclusive results. “I’ve worked on 30 cases but I need at least 100 before I can make statistical correlations. RV is never 100 per cent accurate, so it could only ever be a supplementary form of data acquisition.”
Up to six remote viewers at a time are involved in a single case. They are not given any information about the patient – whose consent must be sought – other than a case number.
“One of our most impressive cases was that of a patient with bad migraines,” says Usher. “He’d been for a CAT scan, which was clear. However, the data from remote viewers showed a head with a lot of darkness, and something circular at the back of it. When we gave him an MRI scan, it turned out he had a benign brain tumour.”
Usher began looking into RV after reading in the British Medical Journal about how faith healers could benefit patients in intensive care.
While Usher says remote viewers have had surprising success in picking up on “big pathology” such as growths, he is realistic about the limitations of involving medical non-professionals. “It is hard for remote viewers to pick up cellular structures and changes,” he says. Training doctors to be remote viewers has also proved problematic, as “they tend to second-guess diagnoses”. Of more practical use are those who claim to be so proficient in RV that their skills are used by the police.
According to Usher, Britain’s most celebrated remote viewer is Daz Smith, an affable `thirtysomething’ from the West Country, who has worked on a dozen Med RV cases. He is also a volunteer for Find Me (findme2.com), a psychic missing-persons agency in the US.
Smith has used RV to visualise GPS co-ordinates and exact details of locations and crime scenes – helping police to track down lost children, as well as human remains and criminals on the run. He showed me letters of thanks for his help in finding the bodies of a missing US Army staff sergeant, and a Kansas suicide victim. “I couldn’t save these people’s lives, but I helped their families get closure on their deaths,” he says.
How is it possible to do this? The answer, says Smith, lies in a programme devised for the CIA by a psychic called Ingo Swann, who developed techniques for stimulating creativity and accessing the subconscious. “Everyone is mildly psychic and can learn to do remote viewing,” Smith says. “The training – which is lengthy, like learning a martial art – teaches you to interpret subtle gut impressions. But it’s like everything: to be world-class you do need talent.”
Smith invited me to try RV. He showed me a sealed envelope containing someone’s name. He asked me to tell him what I could about the person. I was to listen to my subconscious and scribble down my impressions. Within half an hour, I came up with a description of a slim, dark woman with children. Smith revealed that he’d really been asking me to view myself in a year’s time. I felt flattered, but manipulated.
Smith asked his internet-based team of remote viewers to help me with a specific question. Before my ex-husband died two years ago, I had discovered that he’d been unfaithful. I wanted to know if he’d had any illegitimate children. I waited more than a week for the reply. Four remote viewers came up with colourful, jerky impressions: the effect was like reading blank verse. They did not answer my question but they described my husband, scenes from his life and mannerisms with such accuracy that it made me cry.

Earlier, Smith had told me how he’d been approached by a woman whose son had vanished. His team told her that he had drowned – yet she had been hugely comforted. This story had puzzled me: how could it help to be told the worst?
Now I understood. The vivid, highly personal descriptions did help bring closure. So perhaps Prof Wiseman is wrong: in the right hands, RV can work – though it may not give exactly the answer you want.

Massage Therapy Massage

Massage Therapy Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscle. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body. Massage therapy eases tension, stiffness, pain and enhances well-being. It also improves breathing and improves circulation as well as having an overall relaxing and soothing effect. The effects of massage are cumulative and patients should look to undergo a course of massage treatments to bring the most benefits. Regular massage can have a strengthening and toning effect on the whole body, and helps prevent unnecessary strains and injuries that might occur due to excess tension and any resultant structural weaknesses. Depending on the type of massage given, it can stimulate or calm the nervous system, and can therefore help reduce fatigue and leave the patient relaxed, or leave them with a feeling of replenished energy. At its best, massage has the potential to restore the individual physically, mentally and spiritually. Massage is mainly used for musculoskeletal problems and related pain, as well as stress-related conditions and to promote a general feeling of wellbeing. Massage is also being used for pain relief during childbirth and labour. Massage is inadvisable if the patient has certain medical conditions. It is important the practitioner is aware of any medical condition the patient has prior to treatment. Luna Online Home Studies This information on Massage Therapy was taken from the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners. Our course on Aromatherapy includes information on massage, and with the use of essential oils this can be a really effective treatment for conditions or simply a great way to relax. Accreditation Board for Holistic Therapists

The International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM) has been developed to provide the general public and health professionals with a body of regulated professionals, all qualified to accredited levels. All of our full professional members have appropriate professional qualifications and are either directly accredited in their own right (e.g. NVQ’s BTech , Institute of Personal Development and degrees) or are from approved awarding bodies. The accreditations are  awarded by the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine, members of whom have thoroughly studied the coursework provided by  the course provider or school, and we have approved their training methods and course material.

IPHM offers free advice to newly qualified holistic practitioners on how to get started, personal marketing tips, a proof reading service for leaflets and advertising and general guidance on what to do to make your business successful.  Between our members we have many years experience in holistic therapies, palmistry/tarot reading, training and marketing so we can help you start up professionally.

OBJECTIVES: The association is a support group for complementary therapists which was founded as a non-profit making organisation run by a committee of its members. The code of Ethics and this Consitution were adopted January 2006 and supersede any previous Code Of Ethics.

Accreditation: by the  Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM) is a guarantee of quality and expertise. It means that the College, School or Learning Programme has been evaluated and approved by an independent panel of experienced Practitioners and Professionals. Our accreditation appears on all Diplomas and Certificates that are issued by our registered training providers and tutors. Once you have graduated and passed your examination you can then display your Certificate or Diploma with great pride.

Students: Who successfully complete a course that is accredited by IPHM will receive a recognised Diploma/Certificate to enable them to practice their chosen subject and be entitled to use iphm after their name.  Accreditation is a process in which certification of competency, authority, or credibility is awarded. It is necessary in order to regulate the conduct of the organisation and to cover for all eventualities.
